You will: 

Work independently with minimal supervision developing dashboards and implementing innovative visualizations that help with divisional and enterprise wide decision making; work closely with business areas ( especially Merck Manufacturing Division) participating in all phases of projects, including ideation, data preparation, design, analytics, and communication.

You will also be responsible to: 
  • Communicate with end users and other teams across the globe from both IT and business
  • Design and execute data visualizations by developing, understanding and translating business requirements
  •  Analyze data sources, propose optimal data layer for reporting and description of data transformation
  • Define and create data flows, reports, and data validation process
  •  Enhance existing reporting/database solutions
  •  Generate appropriate documentation
  •  Demonstrate clear motivation and focuses on achieving measurable, tangible results
  • Plan and coordinate work activities with others to maximize own and others’ results
  •  Accept responsibility for mistakes, fix them, and learn from them
  •  Follow the full intent and spirit of policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Support design and development of applications, platforms and business processes for scientific and commercial  analytics
  • Understand company’s strategic vision, goals and direction; and exercise judgment in solving problems
  • Stay abreast of current industry best practices and trends

  •  Data Analytics and Data Science techniques, technologies and frameworks
  •  How Business Intelligence and Visualization requirements are actioned

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two years of experience in relevant field.
Master's degree preferred, but not required

Required Experience and Skills:
Strong experience with Qlik and IBM Cognos
BI reporting dashboard tool(s)(e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Power BI, Business Objects, SSIS, SAS,  etc)
Experience with Data Analysis in Excel 
Demonstrated interest in UX / UI design concepts and graphic design

Strong experience in report writing, analytics, visualizations, dashboard creation.
  •  Experience in implementing and validating analytical solutions via Cognos and other similar platforms 
  •  Able to synthesize data from multiple sources to populate data models (e.g. conceptual, logical and physical data models) with minimal supervision
  •  Able to translate findings into business terms and use data visualization to communicate findings/conclusions clearly
Knowledge of Multidimensional Architecture Concepts/BI/DW
  •  Fluency in SQL. (select, joins, etc)
  • Understanding of Relational Database Design and Data Modeling 
  • Understanding of ETL concepts and Data Flow Diagrams
Preferred Experience and Skills:

Familiarity with software development lifecycle (SDLC) principles
Experienced BI professional, UX designer, and data visualization expert looking to expand or explore transition towards a data science and analytics role.
  •  Experience with standard statistical, mathematical, modeling, data mining and data analysis concepts, principles, approaches and software
  •  Experience with ggplot or matplotlib, Shiny, D3 and other javascript visualization frameworks 
Data Programming /Scripting
  •  Experience in programming with commonly leveraged data analysis software, including R or Python.
  •  Working knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. PowerShell, Python, R, VBA, Perl)
Advanced Database/ETL design
  •  Advanced Knowledge of SQL
  • Experience with Stored Procedures (e.g. Oracle,  SQL Server)
  •  Designing ETL processes, performing data updates, indexing, and database maintenance
Data Sciences/Machine Learning/Data Visualization
  •  Familiarity with quantitative and qualitative statistical analysis 
  • Interest in machine learning (e.g classification, clustering, deep learning)
  • Familiarity with Data Warehousing Frameworks (Redshift, Spark, Hive, etc) and Cloud Services  (Amazon, Google , Azure)
