Reporting directly to the Country Executive Managing Director will be responsible for oversight and leadership of assigned franchises activities which includes marketing and sales, policy and professional relations. Responsibilities include build-out and market planning to ensure that franchises commercial & marketing strategies, tactics and infrastructure are in place to successfully achieve new products launch, operating plans and critical milestones. In addition, this leader will work closely with local pricing and market access colleagues to appropriately communicate value, drive access and support patient care.  This business leader has full P&L responsibility.


This leader will also manage and interact with Latin America regional and global brand teams, regional and local project teams.  As a senior member of the leadership team, he/she will drive transformation and actively engage his/her organization and beyond. 


This position directly supervises managerial positions, indirectly supervises the sales force. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; providing training, coaching and counseling and development; managing performance and rewarding; and problem solving. The employee is required to attend business events during evenings and weekends. The employee is frequently required to travel within and outside Puerto Rico.

 

The position is based in Merck offices in the metropolitan area, Puerto Rico.

Qualifications

Requirements:


 


  • Bachelor’s degree, required. Advanced degree preferred with emphasis in Business or Economics, preferred.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in the pharmaceutical or other healthcare related industry, and/or institutional business experience, with emphasis in sales and marketing progressive positions.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in leadership positions, including people management experience.
  • Fluency in Spanish and English (oral and written).
  • Strong people management and leadership skills.
  • Solid experience managing budget, resources and profitability.
  • Willing to travel 30% of the time.
