This position will contribute to the overall support of Global Medical Affairs (~$750M budget and 2300 employees). This role will support operational teams in HQ along with the Regions/Countries for GMA, support key Oncology collaborations, as well as contribute to the overall consolidation and review of the global organization. The position will lead clients through the development of strategic, operational and financial plans and establish capability to deploy resources to critical business drivers, including annual functional objectives and the long-term strategic goals. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as business partner to GMA LT members to provide business council and strategic decision support including resource allocation and prioritization.
  • Lead the annual budget, forecast, and long-range operating plan financial planning process for their respective areas and coordinate all deliverables including the assessment, prioritization, and aggregation.
  • Work closely with MRL and other finance areas to establish best practices and implement process improvements (such as BSCs for FOM, Joint Ventures, HH CBL/Region/Country).
  • Evaluate, build and implement new processes and tools that solve client problems and that improve our efficiency and effectiveness
  • Support discrete decision-making through data driven analysis.
  • General Department Financial Support Activities:
    • Expense management / controlling / identifying risks and opportunities
    • Resource analytics / tracking / forecasting
    • Supporting departmental initiatives
    • Execution of monthly close process
    • Reporting - Performance Mgmt / trends / variance analysis / corrective actions
    • Ad hoc reporting / analysis

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting or Science
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, preferably in Finance
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience in broad areas such as business administration, strategic planning and analysis, managing and allocating resources, and operational and financial planning and management.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, evaluate, organize, direct, and deliver on operational objectives in the areas of planning, finance, and metric setting leading continuous operational improvement.
  • Ability to provide strategic direction for business operations models
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Results and process-driven orientation
  • Understanding of pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain diverse client and peer relationships
  • Proven track record in driving large organizational change initiatives
  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk and be decisive
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong computer skills especially working with SAP, BPC and MS Excel
  • CPA or MBA, or other Masters/PhD in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering
