Under the guidance of the Director supporting Process Research and Development, this position is responsible for providing comprehensive financial support to the Analytical Research and Development organization. AR&D is responsible for developing and optimizing the analytical methods for testing materials. The position is responsible for 1) developing a financial plan enabling the client group to meet its goals and achieve broader organizational targets; 2) facilitating the development, execution and analysis of strategy and business plans, including their assessment, priorization and aggregation; 3) assuring alignment and integration of other support functional groups (e.g. Facilities) into Functional plans to ensure realization of the stated strategic intent; and Ad hoc analysis (i.e. Development of a consistent strategic outsourcing model across AR&D, and expansion of analytical capacity) and support of change initiatives

In this role a candidate should expect to:
  • Gain end-to-end exposure to the Merck drug development process and the R&D pipeline while gaining relevant experience supporting the Analytical Research and Development area
  • Expand his/her analytical toolkit beyond standard P&L analytical approaches, including: pipeline analysis and resource allocation analysis
  • Increase his/her network through engagement across all DPED finance as well as other business partners (particularly the Merck Manufacturing Division and Facilities)


Education Minimum Requirement:
  • Bachelors in Business, Finance, Science or Engineering
Required Experience and Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years of operations or Finance experience
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • MBA or other finance background preferred
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to develop business operations models
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Proactive approach to problem solving
  • Results and process-driven orientation
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting large organization change initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a challenging and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, build and maintain diverse client and peer relationships
  • Sound and balanced judgment, with the ability to assess and handle risk
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Strong computer skills especially working with SAP, BPC and MS Excel. Visualization software skills preferred
