We are looking for a highly motivated scientist to join the Discovery Oncology team at the new Merck South San Francisco facility.  The prospective candidate will be part of the In vivo Mechanism-of-Action/Pharmacology group and will provide technical expertise to support discovery and preclinical activities for early-stage oncology programs. The successful candidate will possess hands-on in vivo technical capabilities, willingness to learn new skills, and the ability to adapt and work in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement:  
B.S. or M. S. in Biology, Physiology, Molecular Biology or a related field 

Required Experience and Skills: 
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in industry and/or academia
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience with handling rodents including but not limited to dosing, bleeding and tissue collection
  • Experience working with mammalian cell culture techniques
  • Good communication skills and comfortable working in a team setting

Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Understanding of Oncology and Immunology 
  • Experience with preclinical oncology models 
  • Experience working in a BSL-2 lab environment
  • Experience with Flow Cytometry 
  • Experience with isolation and culture of primary immune cells
  • Experience and/or familiarity with Microsoft Office, GraphPad Prism, FlowJo, and TIBCO Spotfire
  •  Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work independently
