Position Description:


This role will work with a diverse set of external and internal stakeholders to drive innovation and industry leadership in across the Hospital & Specialty BU and Healthcare Redesign. 


The primary responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Manage projects and prioritize work across divisions that aligns to business priorities and US Market Human Health Strategy
  • Support the Director, Care Redesign for comprehensive engagement with US Marketing Leaders and brand teams for the Hospital & Specialty Business Unit  focused on identifying business gaps and innovative solutions.
  • Engage with customer facing account leaders and top customers to understand customer needs aligned to business priorities, in the context of Care Redesign.
  • Ongoing evaluation of current Care Redesign solutions, adherence strategy and digital engagement  in the context of top customer needs and business priorities.  
  • Identify gaps and opportunities, and make recommendations for evolution of strategy and resources.  Manage development of new solutions
  • Lead teams or projects; motivate other team members; promote value of working together as a team and relationship building, using the diverse perspectives of others to generate ideas.
  • Lead others to solve complex problems; take a broad perspective to identify innovative solutions. 
  • Partner with brand teams, promotion, and market research to continue to focus on needs of Care Redesign in solutions intended for consumers and patient
This role supports the U.S. Strategy to drive innovation to expand Merck’s capability to develop and incubate innovative programs and tools that address unmet needs of top customers, including integrated delivery systems, payers, retail chains and other influencers of health care decision-making. This role will work with a diverse set of external (Care Redesign, and top customers) and internal stakeholders (Brand Marketing, Strategy & Planning, Solution Consultants, Promotion, Marketing Research, Operations, Multi-Channel, Medical/Legal, Training and Customer Facing Teams; also other divisional areas such as MRL and IT when projects align directly to business priorities).

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • A bachelors degree is required

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 5+ years experience in pharmaceutical commercial and/or health care industry
  • Demonstrated knowledge of US Market health care trends and implications
  • Demonstrated project management and project portfolio management skills
  • Leadership that serves to catalyze how Merck engages differently with customers, in creative, impactful and compliant ways to support our brands
  • Strong collaboration skills and proficient in building strong relationships; working in a team environment with multiple stakeholders
  • Strategic planning and business planning skills
  • Commitment to compliance while evolving the way we interact with customers
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and business development skills.  Ability to function and influence others in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, within a rapidly evolving healthcare environment. 
  • Ability to influence leadership and appropriately challenge status quo

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • 3+ years recent customer-facing experience
  • Broad knowledge of Merck product portfolio
  • Collaboration skills that cross franchises and divisions and support a ‘One Merck” approach
  • Budget management
  • Experience engaging with Integrated Delivery Networks or other medical groups on population health initiatives
  • Direct experience working with CORE (Center for Observational and Real-World Evidence) & Medical Affairs
