The primary responsibility of the data analyst role is to develop innovative data driven solutions that meet the business requirements and quality expectations of the Business teams to support commercial operations.

Additional Primary Responsibilities:
  • Analysis of source (external and internal) data to support the requirements gathering and understanding how the data supports the requirements of the delivery projects
  • Support the Business in the understanding and interpretation of commercial data (both well understood and emerging unstructured data sets) and help to derive approaches for how data can used to support effective commercial operations
  • Responsible for the data design artefacts associated to the delivery scope - document the data needs according to SDLC process including the data required to support the necessary delivery phases of the project; including all testing phases
  • Present data requirements and outcomes of data analysis to the Business and internal IT colleagues
  • Technical skills to work hands on with data using tool sets across existing and emerging technologies, including the ability to visualise data sets
  • Ownership of the resolution of data related defects and issues and support in the analysis of these issues as part of project or production support activities
  • Work as part of a product-based organisation to deliver innovative, quality and cost-effective solutions to our Commercial organization and to perform data analysis to support scoping and requirements definition for these solutions
  • Communicate data requirements and data design artefacts to and work closely with the development teams to ensure accurate understanding and implementation
  • Responsible for quality assurance of design and development artefacts associated to the data design
  • Develop good understanding of Merck data and business objectives to support teams in delivering high quality outcomes
  • Provide support to design, construction and testing phases of the project(s) to ensure high quality delivery across the teams

  • Drive continuous improvement of the data design and implementation process and tools
  • Become fully conversant with Merck systems development life cycle methodology and understand relevant regulatory and compliance needs

We are seeking professionals with the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Education Minimum Requirement: 
MSC or BSC in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Economics, Business Management or Marketing with 2-5 years’ experience in commercial (sales | marketing) environment

Required Experience and Skills:
  • Motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with commercial data in a major global organisation or equivalent size delivery projects
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with data transformation, data warehousing and MDM tools and technologies including cloud based technology
  • Experience of working with first, second and third party data types and how they relate to customer data analytics
  • Knowledge of oncology data sets across marketing and commercial operations in the pharmaceutical industry – both consumer and health care providers
  • Strong analytical thinker and problem-solving skills with a strong understanding of master data management practices
  • GxP, SOX or other regulatory certified system experience
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a geographically disbursed environment
  • Experience of different ways of working and delivery methodologies – iterative, agile, Kanban
  • Interest in emerging technology and application to resolving relevant business issues
  • Experience of working with batch and real time integrations techniques, tools and technologies
  • Ability to self-learn and develop business and technical knowledge quickly and apply these to the business problems
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data across the commercial environment (sales, marketing, digital etc.) and supporting the use of these types of data with key Business stakeholders
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Experience with data cleansing and validation processes and technologies
