The Water CoE Senior Specialist will report to the Director, Water CoE within the Environmental Compliance and Technical Services Center of Excellence (CoE) within the Global Safety & Environment (GSE) organization. As a member of the Water CoE team, the Senior Specialist is responsible to lead and support activity with respect to water and wastewater compliance projects, programs and technical support globally, as assigned.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing regulatory surveillance
  • Providing water, wastewater, and general environmental compliance support to Company facilities globally as assigned
  • Providing subject matter expertise on Company standards
  • Providing technical wastewater and water treatment expertise
  • Serve as the Water COE Lead for selected capital improvement projects related to water or wastewater
  • Providing technical support for advocacy, permit application/negotiation, program and tools development, risk mitigation efforts and technical training
  • Learning Toxchem, GPS-X, or other relevant modeling software to assist sites with evaluation of environmental impacts
  • Develop / support strategies to achieve compliance goals in alignment with GSE and Company business goals and values
  • Leading / participating in cross-functional projects to complete milestones by established deadlines, while adhering to approved financial budgets.

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering
Required Experience and Skills:
  • 5 - 10 years of water program management and implementation at manufacturing or research facilities
  • Demonstrate strong project management techniques, with ethics as a core value
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including interfacing with senior level management.
  • Demonstrate ability to successfully negotiate with regulatory agencies
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • Professional Certification (for example Professional Engineer)
  • Experience leading a site water program in the pharmaceutical or chemical industry
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; ability to work transparently and with a sense of urgency across various businesses and functions
  • Ability to drive customer service/value and build strong collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Experience with wastewater modeling software
