The Wilson facility, located at the intersection of I-95 and US 264 Alternate, is a 500,000 square foot packaging site on 225 acres.  The facility has been in operation since 1983, and is Merck's Packaging Center of Excellence for North America.

Pharmaceutical Operators operate automatic packaging equipment as part of an empowered work team.  Team members routinely perform line-specific duties including line check-in, in-process quality monitoring, equipment operation, work center cleaning,change-over, and material movement with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency in accordance with established procedures.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Set up and adjust equipment including tablet fillers, thermoformers, cappers, bottle labelers, checkweighers, cartoners, casepackers, and palletizers as needed for optimal performance within qualified parameters
  • Examine products to detect defects, product damage, or other visual quality problems
  • Verify accuracy of critical information and complete required documentation for product run
  • Identify equipment malfunctions and repair needs; communicate appropriately for timely resolution
  • Accurately maintains detailed records of equipment cleaning, set-up, and challenge documentation 
  • Actively takes accountability for personal safety as well as the safety of others
  • Collaborates with peers and other employees at various levels throughout the organization

 These positions require the incumbents to work at 40 hours or more per week and include evening and night hours of work; additionally, weekend and holiday work may be required.  This position will cover off shifts to include 2nd or  3rd  shift Qualifications


Education Minimum Requirement:  

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred:   A.S. or higher strongly preferred

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and/or repairing industrial equipment
  • Must possess basic computer skills, especially computer navigation skills
  • Must be able to accurately enter/record information electronically and manually
  • Must possess high attention to detail, problem solving skills and basic math skills
  • Able to perform some mechanical adjustments to packaging equipment and to assemble and take apart objects using hand tools
  • Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including evening and/or night shifts, and possibly weekends as needed

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Preferably 2-3 years in a GMP manufacturing/packaging environment
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Able to interact in a team setting, positively adapt to change and effectively resolve conflict
