The Safety Coach will report to Elkton’s High Risk Work (HRW) Trainer and Safety Coach Lead within the Supply Chain Organization. Their primary responsibilities will include work within the Site’s High Risk Work coaching and permit issuance focused work streams.  This position will be responsible for conducting detailed Right First Time (RFT) reviews of HRW permit related documentation, conducting Joint Safety Assessment (JSA) field reviews, serialized issuance of permit documentation, updating of permit related tracking systems, and filing of all permit related documentation. This position will involve significant partnering with the Site’s maintenance, technical operations, and operations areas in addition to the Site’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) organization.


Ultimately, key performance indicators for this position will be realized by both significant and sustained reduction of overall safety incidents, zero injuries, and zero HRW related audit findings.


Qualifications

Education Minimum Requirement: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Business, Management and experience in a production/technical environment or a minimum four (4) years of relevant military service

Required Experience and Skills: 

  • Demonstrated knowledge in OSHA governed and Merck’s categories of High Risk Work.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and or completing High Risk Work permits and pre job field safety reviews. 
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and cross organizational collaboration. 
  • Experience operating in a GMP and Safety Regulated production environment.
  • Prior experience in reluatory audits, including directly interfacing with internal or external auditors
  • Working experience within Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Standards, procedures, and processes. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of:
  • Delta-V
  • Building Alarm System (BAS)
  • SAP
  • Job Safety or Job Hazard Analysis
  • Operational Risk Management
