A philosophy of patient first

George W. Merck gave us a core principle that we stand by over a century after our organization was founded: "We try never to forget that medicine is for the people, it is not for the profits. The profits follow, and if we have remembered that, they have never failed to appear."

Leadership development opportunities

We value the growth and success of our employees, as each contributor empowers us to continue offering the best solutions for patients around the world. Here are a few of the many initiatives we've established to encourage and recognize professional development.

The General Management Acceleration Program (GMAP) is our company’s flagship program to develop future global, enterprise-wide leaders

Sponsored by the CEO's Office, the GMAP program helps develop our company's highest potential talent by giving them meaningful work experiences across different divisions, functions, and geographies. Each GMAP participant also has the opportunity to increase his/her business and financial acumen and develop critical strategic thinking abilities through targeting learning opportunities and networking with key leaders throughout the company. Previous GMAP graduates have benefited from the mix of stretch assignments, actions-learning projects and targeted development.
