Associate Director – Cost of Sales & Inventory (COSI) Process Support provides guidance to the Finance Organization on the end-to-end accounting activities related to the costing and movement of inventory through Merck’s financial supply chain. This position works primarily with the COSI organization in support of the activity they are accountable for. Their end-to-end activities include legal costing, reviewing the calculation of consolidated cost, movement of inventory, reconciliation of inventory balances, and the calculation of intercompany profit. The position will develop a broad understanding of the end to end financial reporting process, Merck’s financial supply chains, and the use of various financial tools.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversight of the end-to-end costing, inventory and intercompany profit processes, including the evaluation of process changes and impacts
  • Partnering with local finance teams, Business Service Centers (BSC), Divisional Financial Service (DFS) teams and Corporate Accounting areas to provide monthly close support and guidance on how to properly record sales, cost of sales and inventory related activity
  • Participation in Global Process teams, involved in sales, inventory and costing
  • Participation in TRAIN initiatives
  • Ad hoc requests
  • Coordination and testing of system implementations and enhancements
  • Responsible for managing an analyst



 
Qualifications


Education Minimum Requirement:

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting or Finance
Preferred Experience and Skills:
  • CPA or MBA
  • Knowledge of Finance Sharing Area (FSA), Finance Tool Kit (FTK), SAP, HFM/Smartview, Blackline, Excel based tools
  • Knowledge of sales, inventory and cost accounting
