During my 12-week internship, I was able to immerse myself into the culture here at Merck. The same home away from home welcoming that I had received from my University of Kentucky MANRRS family was the same embrace I received from the Inside Sales Companion Animal team out in Omaha, Nebraska the very first day. I was able to get hands on experience and see for myself how my contribution helped the team meet their goals. This allowed me to sharpen my confidence, communication skills, and professionalism. My time in Omaha was one for the best and I’m grateful that Merck allowed me this opportunity to showcase my talent.

Our Animal Health Division being committed to establishing and maintaining a tradition of diversity and inclusion is important as a company in order to push beyond all barriers for innovative success. With the committed focus on MANRRS, innovation and critical constructive collaboration is what it will take to maintain our industry for the generations to come!

The intern program with Merck Animal Health has opened so many doors for me in my career. Starting in the global aquaculture space and transitioning into a full-time marketing role for the US Livestock Division, Merck has given me the tools to think outside the box, network effectively, and make a difference in the animal health industry. I’m continuing to grow and learn from this company each and every day.”

I began my journey with MANRRS in the Fall of 2015 at the University of Kentucky. In April of 2018 during the 34th National MANRRS Conference I was extended an internship offer with Merck Animal Health. I was hired in the company’s HR department and began working in May of 2018. Once I arrived I was greeted with smiles and warm energy. The work culture was very welcoming and versatile in workspace. I loved it in the office it was beautiful. While working with the company I learned about FFA, AFA, and other diversity organizations outside of MANRRS.  I built relationships with my fellow intern class and various employees at the office, many who I still keep in touch with to this day.  I enjoyed being able to share my MANRRS experience with the Merck Animal Health team and encourage other MANRRS members to seek opportunities with the company. Together, Merck and the MANRRS organization have left a lasting impression on me and so many others.
