One experience that stood out was when I presented my project to the CIO and other leaders of Merck's Animal Health business. Giving these presentations taught me how to efficiently segment and relay technical information to employees of mixed technical knowledge and points of view. This also showed me how open, friendly, and hierarchy-free Merck's culture is.

As I’ve progressed through roles of increasing responsibility, I continue to appreciate that firsthand experience that part of Merck’s business as I support the organization from an IT perspective. I take forward that theme of cross-functional collaboration in all of the roles I’ve had and appreciate those insights I first gained from my time in the Emerging Talent Rotational program.
Steve Pribis 2014 Emerging Talent Rotational Program Graduate
The ability to have three jobs within my time in the program will ensure that when I leave the program, I will have the skillsets I need to succeed at Merck. I have been able to gain a breadth of skills, grow my network and work with my fellow ETRs. It truly has been a great opportunity to accelerate my career at Merck. It was incredible to be exposed to how information technology can enable our mission "Inventing for Life".

Two months into my first rotation, I got the exciting opportunity to present at the Merck Technology Symposium in West Long Branch, NJ. My manager, his colleague, another Emerging Talent Rotation colleague and I worked together to create a presentation and hands-on demonstration of the AWS SageMaker tool, Amazon’s machine learning platform. We then presented to more than forty Merck Research Laboratories (MRL) scientists and MRL IT colleagues.

The Emerging Talent Rotation Program provided me with the opportunity to rotate through a diverse set of roles, which helped me develop the necessary skills, network, and professional acumen to be successful after I graduated the program.
